*What is ... Annual HPD Registration? Add this amount to your first term class payment (excludes Class annual payment) – this registration fee contributes to annual associated expenses such as APDA administration costs, insurances and music licensing fees, performance opportunities. All club related fees are non-refundable. As a not-for-profit everything goes back into the Harbourside Physie & Dance experience.
**What is ... Annual APDA Registration & Membership? This amount must be paid directly to APDA upon completion of the Annual APDA Registration & Membership form. The Australian Physie & Dance Association is our head association and each member is required to pay the annual registration fee. This fee is set by APDA and covers the cost of APDA producing the annual syllabus, administration of APDA and also includes a downloadable copy of the official APDA Syllabus Training video and music per family. It is non-refundable or transferable.
Term 1 classes commence in February and run through until November/December. Classes do not run during school holidays unless deemed necessary by the Harbourside Teaching Team. Please stay up to date with our Facebook page, emails and newsletters for further communications.
Age groups are determined by the student’s age as at 31st August 2024. For
example, if your child turns 7 on 31st August, they will be in the 7-8 years class. If
your child turns 7 on 1st September, they will be in the 5-6 years class.
Students may wear a leotard or comfortable dancewear to class. Adults may wear active gym wear. No footwear or socks permitted.
3 - 4 years class
At Harbourside Physie and Dance we understand preschoolers have different needs and learn in different ways. APDA has developed a dedicated preschool program for these Tiny Tots.
Through music and dance, our preschool program teaches and improves gross motor skills, which are vital to your child’s development. They learn the basic fundamentals of a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz and physie. Our program also improves school readiness.
5 - 8 years Class
9-10 years Class
11-12 years Class
Junior girls learn 6 routines and have the option of participating in individual and/or team competitions. Throughout the year the girls work towards perfecting these performances. The routines focus on a mix of dance genres and improve strength, musicality, posture, flexibility and technique. All while having fun with friends in a safe environment for beginners to advanced dancers.
13 - 15 years Class
16 years & Intermediate* Class
Open Elite Seniors Class (18+ yrs, dance/Physie experience recommend)
Senior Girls learn 4 or 5 routines depending on their age. These routines allow the girls to express their own dance style and a great way to improve fitness. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to escape the stressors of school, uni or work. Senior girls have the option of performing these routines at competitions throughout the year.
*Intermediates are students aged 17 - 18 years. Students who are 18+ and new to Physie are eligible to begin in the Intermediate age group.
18 - 80 years+ Class
Beginners, Novice, Intermediate, Masters (BNIM)
Open Elite Ladies Class
Ladies Class is a good time. We learn 5 different routines of a mix of genres. You'll be surrounded by likeminded, supportive woman in this dance class. It’s a great way to improve your fitness, socialise and challenge yourself. Our Ladies also have the option of performing at competitions throughout the year. All you need to do is give it a go.
